Personal Lumonol Review: A Noopept Nootropic Stack

Normally, I try to avoid taking synthetic drugs unless I have to. But as I have been lately struggling to stay focused and motivated during work and frequently battling with negativity, I decided to give nootropics a try and see for myself if these drugs live up to the hype.

Noopept seemed like a good choice to start with since it’s relatively safe and widely used with plenty of positive feedback. It is also said to be 1000 times stronger than piracetam with similar benefits. Now while you could buy noopept on its own as powder or capsules, I instead decided to buy a pre-made nootropic stack which contains noopept. The product is called Lumonol.

This is my personal review and experience of Lumonol, which will hopefully help you understand what to expect before you buy this product.

What is Lumonol?

Lumonol is a pre-made nootropic stack that contains noopept in addition to nine other natural/herbal nootropic compounds (full list of ingredients below). You can call it a dietary supplement, although noopept is actually a synthetic drug.

This product is manufactured in the USA by Avanse Nutraceuticals (Chula Vista, CA). The main claims are: it improves cognition, focus, memory, energy and motivation.

My Personal Results With Lumonol

The following are the benefits I experienced after I started taking Lumonol (it’s been about a couple of weeks at the time of writing this review):

  • Reduced Anxiety and Stress: Probably the most noticeable effect is feeling calmer and less nervy. I also started worrying less about the future and focusing more on today with an easygoing mindset.
  • Better Focus: It improved my ability to stay focused and clear-minded during work.
  • More Positive and Motivated: I find it easier to stay positive and keep off negative thoughts. I also feel a little more motivated to work.
  • Sharper Brain and Memory: It feels easier to do mentally demanding tasks, and I seem to remember things more easily/quickly, although I can’t really say it has a dramatic effect on memory.

Note: While I did experience noticeable improvement in the areas mentioned above, the effect was not very dramatic or like a day and night difference. I would say the results were satisfactory for me. You may not have the same experience since results of such supplements usually vary for each individual.

Side Effects and Safety of Lumonol

The only side effect I noticed is a mild headache that comes and goes at times. The headache is rather subtle and not annoying, so it didn’t keep me from continuing to take the supplement.

Now, because there are no human studies on the long-term safety of noopept, I do not plan on taking this supplement for more than a few months, and I would suggest you don’t either. Or at least take some break time after a month or two before you go back to using it.

Lumonol Dosage

I take two capsules (the recommended dosage) in the morning before breakfast. I also drink 1-3 cups of coffee a day. I don’t drink alcohol.

One bottle contains 60 vegetarian capsules and each serving (2 capsules) contains 15mg of noopept and a blend of other natural nootropics listed below.

I take Lumonol 3-4 times a week. It is not recommended to take it every single day as your body may build up tolerance for some ingredients. So it’s better to cycle it by taking a couple of days off every week.

The Ingredients of Lumonol

Here is the full list of ingredients in Lumonol with a little information about their uses and benefits, and I’ve also included some links to independent clinical studies for each ingredient.

1. Noopept

Noopept is a synthetic nootropic drug that has a similar effect to piracetam, but it is more effective at much lower doses. Noopept is used to enhance memory and combat cognitive decline, especially in people under oxidative stress.

One study found that Noopept may be helpful in preventing the development of Alzheimer’s disease as a result of cognitive impairment. Noopept’s benefits in healthy people have not been clinically proven.

2. Phosphatidylserine (PS)

Phosphatidylserine is a phospholipid; a naturally-occurring compound consisting of fatty and amino acids. The body synthesizes PS, and it is also found in various foods.

PS plays a role in memory and cognitive functions, and it’s levels in the brain decrease with age. PS may help strengthen memory in old people, and it may also boost cognitive functions when taken before exercise.

3. Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALCAR)

ALCAR is a form of the amino acid L-carnitine, which is naturally produced by the body. ALCAR plays an important role in energy production and it has functions in the brain, heart, muscles and other parts of the body.

Clinical studies [1] [2] [3] have shown that ALCAR supplementation helps with mental and physical fatigue, and improves cognitive functions.

4. L-Tyrosine

L-Tyrosine (or tyrosine) is a non-essential amino acid that is found in dairy products and other high-protein foods. The body can synthesize tyrosine from another amino acid called phenylalanine. In the brain, tyrosine gets converted to L-DOPA, which is the precursor for dopamine and other neurotransmistters.

Studies have found that tyrosine supplementation may improve cognitive performance under stress and fatigue. It was also found to enhance performance during extended sleepless hours.

5. Alpha GPC

Alpha GPC is one of the most popular sources of choline, both of which are naturally found in the brain and can be sourced from many foods. Choline is the precursor for acetylcholine, which is one of the crucial neurotransmitters in the brain that plays a role in memory, learning, attention, and arousal.

Alpha GPC efficiently supplies choline across the blood-brain barrier, and leads to increased production of acetylcholine in the brain. Many people take alpha GPC to improve memory, and studies have shown that it may help patients with dementia. Alpha GPC has also been shown to improve cognitive symptoms of mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease.

6. Ginkgo Biloba

Ginkgo Biloba is a tree native to China, where people have been using its leaves in traditional medicine for centuries. Ginkgo leaf extract is used to increase blood circulation and it has antioxidant properties.

Ginkgo supplements are widely taken to enhance memory and cognition, especially in elderly persons with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. While there are no conclusive studies that prove the efficacy of ginkgo biloba, some studies have shown positive results of treatment with extracts of this herb.

7. Panax Ginseng

Panax ginseng is a plant that grows in Korea and China. The root and its extract are one of the most widely used herbal remedies for many health issues. Panax ginseng is considered an adaptogen that people take to enhance overall well-being.

It may help improve mental health and quality of life in the short-run as concluded by one study. There is some evidence that Panax ginseng may improve cognitive performance.

8. Hordenine

Hordenine is an alkaloid compound that is naturally found in barley and other plants. Hordenine is believed to be a stimulant of the central nervous system when taken at high doses, and it is used to enhance athletic performance. However, there are no human studies that confirm these claims.

9. Guarana

Guarana is a plant that natively grows in Brazil and other countries in the Amazon basin. The seeds of this plant are used in traditional medicine to improve energy and performance.

Guarana seeds have been found to contain caffeine and other stimulants. Although studies of its benefits were not conclusive, they showed promise that guarana extracts may improve cognitive performance and reduce mental fatigue.

10. Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 is an essential vitamin that is found in meat, milk, eggs, and other animal products. Most people consume adequate amounts of vitamin B12 in their diet, but those who don’t – especially vegetarians – are advised to take supplements that contain vitamin B12.

This vitamin is important for proper functioning of the human body, especially the brain and the nervous system. Vitamin B12 deficiency can cause serious damage to the nervous system and the brain, and can result in depression, fatigue, poor memory, and other mental problems.

People who have low levels of vitamin B12 may notice improvement in depression and fatigue after daily supplementation.

The Verdict on Lumonol

All in all, I’ve had a positive experience with Lumonol. It helped me stay relaxed, clear-minded, focused and more motivated to work. I would buy this product again and would recommend it to others. It is a bit pricey, but it’s a complete stack with several popular nootropics in one product.

If you are looking for a supplement to keep you calm and concentrated during work, study, etc. then Lumonol is worth giving a shot.
